5 Star Garage Door Service's Rapids, NY technicians replace worn cables before they fail, and re-seat drums that have slipped out of alignment.
We built our Garage Door Cable Repair service around Rapids, NY customers who need a specialist, not a generalist working outside their depth.
Every Rapids, NY technician on this service line carries documentation you can ask to see, and we expect the question.
We check both cables and both drums together, since wear rarely happens in isolation.
We use cables rated to your door's actual weight and spring tension.
Improper cable work while springs are loaded is a real injury risk.
A visibly fraying cable is treated as a near-term emergency.
Even a few loose strands mean a cable is close to failing under load — we inspect both cables even when only one shows visible wear.
A cable that's already snapped usually means the door dropped or hangs crooked — emergency replacement is stocked specifically because this can't wait.
A cable that's slipped off its drum causes uneven hanging — alignment gets checked against the opposite side for balance.
Extension spring systems should run safety cables to prevent whip-back — we add these where missing.
The bracket anchoring the cable to the door corrodes over time — we repair or replace it as part of cable service.
Reach a live dispatcher at +1-866-597-3069 and describe what's going on with your door.
Most calls see a technician on-site within the hour, dispatch load permitting.
You approve the price before any work begins.

"""Noticed a few frayed strands and called before it got worse. Tech said it was close to snapping."""
"""Cable snapped and the door dropped crooked. They stabilized it fast and had it fixed same day."""

"""Quick, professional, explained exactly what was worn and why."""
We'll explain the wear pattern we see on your specific cables.
If you notice either, call +1-866-597-3069 before the cable fails completely.
Don't attempt to operate the door manually until it's inspected.
We don't recommend it — cables work under spring tension requiring proper tools.
They run through extension springs to contain them if the spring fails.
Lifespan varies with usage and Rapids, NY climate, but most last several years.
